More Good News

Hello.

Both the NG tube and the catheter are out! The bowels are working! And he had the liquid dinner tonight... What progress!!!!! : )

Just waiting for the pathology report now.. He's still on the morphine for pain, but there was talk today of changing to a different pain drug (don't know what).

The upsetting thing for Jim today is that he needs to inject himself once a day for two weeks with a blood thinner once he's released... I'm hoping that on Wed that they can show me how to inject Jim, since Jim is worried about doing it right... Also he's on [Prilosec-wrong] Procrit (to increase his red blood cells). Since he didn't "qualify" for a transfusion, his body needs to create the blood it lossed. I think this needs to be administered by an Oncologist. So Jim needs to find an Oncologist since we sort of skipped that step...

But we're on the home stretch (at least I think so)... Yeah!!!!!

Hi Jen,

Terry and I are glad to see that Jim is progressing. We called him on Sunday evening but he could barely speak as his throat is still very sore.

We thought it was best not to come down this weekend because his family would still be around so he would not be lonely.

Terry and I watch for your updates every day and we are thinking about you both.

Tell Jim not to worry about the shots. My sister gives herself shots for MS and my boss gives herself shots for her blood (she is receiving chemo). You get used to the procedure quickly.

Hope there is more good news tomorrow!

Take care!
Karen

OH Jen! Thank God for small movements, huh? hehehe. Glad he's, uuummmmm getting back on the poop track, ok, I shouldn't joke about that stuff, huh, but Jim would think I'm sick if I didn't tease him all the time. I'm sure Jimmy will get used to the shots, geeze, I wish he lived closer, Willie would do it for him, but it's hard to get down there daily with me working and him working all night, and the kids. Maybe he could come and stay with his mom for the 2 weeks? Did he ever think of that? Oh, or did you guys say that he was coming to your house? Let us know, we could arrange something that he probably could stay up here if he wanted, remember that his mom has another bedroom with a bed in it. You guys talk it over. THen Willie could give him his shots everyday if he did that. You guys discuss it, ok?
later!

Hi there,

Nice to meet you Anna. You are the first person I've ever met on the 'blogosphere'... rather bizarre, no?

Thanks, Jen, for the updates. Things out here are nutty as usual so its nice to catch up with things even though its too late to call. Give Jim a hello for me. I'm really glad to hear that his recovery has gone so well.

I imagine you must have been COMPLETELY wiped out over the weekend. I hope going back to work has been do-able.

If there is anything someone way out west could do, just let me know.

I ran into Jonathan Brown yesterday - he gives his best wishes to you both.

love,
Liz
